Spirit Ranch

Set on a horse ranch north of Tucson, Arizona, Spirit Ranch, like the mythical Brigadoon, appears when needed and disappears into the mists of time when the job is done. Some of the inhabitants of Spirit Ranch are aware of what is going on, while others have no clue.

Maxine was raised in south Louisiana, where hurricanes brought birth and death. When she was a small child, the spirit of her grandfather told her she had the ‘gift of knowing’. It took years of training to develop the power of helping others with that knowing. Her mysterious knowledge keeps Spirit Ranch working.

Bill was making his way across the country by hitchhiking and riding the rails, until he was pulled out of a boxcar and sent to jail in Tucson. When he decides to get a job at the horse ranch, he is soon frightened by the inexplicable events going on. Is he going crazy or is it really the work of spirits? He arrived doubting his faith; now he must use it to help someone else.

Mary Kate began life living in a closed dresser drawer, put there by alcoholic parents who often forgot about her. She was adopted by survivors of Auschwitz, who were as emotionally stunted as Mary Kate herself. She must learn to overcome fear and allow love to come forth in order to live life to its fullest.

Spirit Ranch is akin to Touched By an Angel, but with no angels. Bill, Maxine, and the spirits work to help Mary Kate develop her faith in herself and others.
